RFA Frequently Asked Questions

We have gathered frequently asked questions from the field regarding the ongoing RFA Process, and answered them during our weekly RFA MeetUps.  Below is a list for your reference, as well as links to the archived "Meet & Confer" sessions to hear the discussions and responses.

Questions from RFA MeetUp Session, Held on December 7, 2012

  • Define “authentic partnership”?
  • Does similar size mean geographical size and/or populations?
  • Can you provide the timeline (release submittal) for the RFAs for Sector Navigators, consortia chairs, and TA provider?
  • Are timelines for Centers and SB1070 established?
  • Are priority sectors by region final or is there still time to make a case for your priority?
  • LA County has the largest concentration of advanced manufacturers in the world.  Why has the region not identified it as priority?
  • How is Environmental Technology being defined?  I can’t find a definition on the DoingWhatMatters web site. Can you give me some direction on this?

Questions from RFA MeetUp Session, Held on December 14, 2012

  • By what process can the regional consortia change their “P” and “E” sector designations for this RFA cycle?  New legislation and regulatory decisions are creating annual funding streams that are of similar magnitude to ARRA.  These had not been made when the consortia set their priorities, and probably were not considered.
  • When will RFAs be released?
  • Why is it that all TA funds/projects are not going through the RFA process?
  • How much will the TA grants be?
  • Is there any alternative to JPA, such as a 501c3 or MOU, assuming that such an alternative structure includes the elements described?
