Brian Burrell

Brian Burrell is formerly the California Policy and Organizing Manager in the Young Invincibles (YI) San Francisco office where he worked with the California policy team to research and advocate for increased economic opportunity for young adults in California and to engage young adults towards solutions for the issues facing our generation. In his recent work with YI, he listened to the voices of young Californians on our statewide Jobs Tour to identify the barriers to employment, which will ultimately serve to develop a policy agenda that increases job opportunities and career pathways for young adults in California. Additionally, Brian has co-authored two reports with YI including A Fight for the Future and the California edition of Closing the Race Gap.

The Opportunity
For community colleges to become essential catalysts to California’s economic recovery and jobs creation at the local, regional and state levels.

The Strategy
Doing What MATTERS for jobs and the economy is a four-pronged framework to respond to the call of our nation, state, and regions to close the skills gap. The four prongs are:

  • Give Priority for Jobs and the Economy
  • Make Room for Jobs and the Economy
  • Promote Student Success
  • Innovate for Jobs and the Economy
