Phase Three: Task Force Meetings

During January-July 2015, five meetings of the Task Force will be held. These meetings will lead to a set of recommendations for how the community college system could improve workforce training, which can then be adopted by the Board of Governors. Throughout the spring, the broader community will be invited to respond to the draft recommendations via the use of Ideascale on the website. At the final meeting, the Task Force will review a draft final report prior to its presentation to two wrap-up Strong Workforce Town Halls and its submission to the Consultation Council and the Board of Governors.

The Opportunity
For community colleges to become essential catalysts to California’s economic recovery and jobs creation at the local, regional and state levels.

The Strategy
Doing What MATTERS for jobs and the economy is a four-pronged framework to respond to the call of our nation, state, and regions to close the skills gap. The four prongs are:

  • Give Priority for jobs and the economy
  • Make Room for jobs and the economy
  • Promote Student Success
  • Innovate for jobs and the economy
